Sn. Jena et al., Mass and decay constant of the (q(q)over-bar)-pion in a relativistic-potential model of independent quarks, PRAMANA-J P, 51(6), 1998, pp. 711-725
Under the assumption that a meson is an assembly of independent quark and a
ntiquark, confined in a first approximation by an effective potential V-q(r
) = 1/2(1 + gamma(0))(a(2)r + V-0) which presumably represents the non-pert
urbative gluon interactions, the mass and decay constant of the (q(q)over-b
ar)-pion together with the masses of rho and omega-mesons are calculated by
considering perturbatively the corrections due to the possible residual in
teraction such as quark-pion coupling arising out of the requirement of chi
ral symmetry and quark-gluon coupling arising out of one-gluon exchange and
that due to the spurious motion of center of mass of the meson core. This
results in the physical mass of the (q(q)over-bar)-pion in consistency with
that of the PCAC-pion and the pion decay constant in a reasonable agreemen
t with experiment.
