Abstract
The production of free chlorine at the anode in electrodialysis processes c auses deterioration of the membranes. The production of free chlorine could be reduced significantly by decreasing the transport number of the chlorid e ions in the anode chamber. This was achieved by introducing a solid polym er electrolyte (ion-exchange resin) in the anode. (C) 1999 Elsevier Science B.V. All rights reserved.
