The second part of a two-part symposium in Social Science Computer Review d evoted to equality and inequality in information societies, the three contr ibutions to this issue focus on the growing importance of information techn ology (IT) in less developed countries and the gnawing disparities in IT ac cess and impact with more developed countries, the focus of the symposium's first part (see Social Science Computer Review, Winter 1998).
