Abstract
BACKGROUND Spontaneous recanalization in a completely thrombosed giant aneu rysm is a very rare condition. CASE DESCRIPTION An 18-year-old woman presented with a serpentine variety g iant aneurysm of the posterior cerebral artery, in which spontaneous recana lization of a completely thrombosed lumen was demonstrated on magnetic reso nance imaging and angiography. The patient was treated by trapping of the p arent artery and aneurysmectomy. CONCLUSION This case will provide insight into the potential for spontaneou s recanalization in completely thrombosed giant aneurysms. (C) 1999 by Else vier Science Inc.
