Abstract
We have developed new chromophoric derivatives for the amino group: 4,5-dim ethoxyphthalimide and 6,7-dimethoxy-2,3-naphthalimide, particularly suitabl e for CD applications. These highly fluorescent imides show very strong Cot ton effects due to exciton coupling which are red-shifted with respect to t he parent phthalimide and 2,3-naphthalimide chromophores. No significant Co tton effects other than those due to the transition with the electric dipol e transition moment colinear with the Ct-axis of the chromophore were obser ved, (C) 1999 Elsevier Science Ltd.
