mu-Pyrazine-N : N '-bis[aqua(N-salicylidene-glycinato-O,N,O ')copper(II)] dihydrate

The title compound, [Cu-2(C9H7NO3)(2)(mu-C4H4N2)-(H2O)(2)]. 2H(2)O, adopts a square-pyramidal copper(II) coordination with three donor atoms of the N- salicylideneglycinato Schiff base dianion and one N atom of the pyrazine li gand bound in the basal plane. The axial position is occupied by a water O atom at a distance of 2.436 (2) Angstrom. The molecules are connected throu gh the second N atom of the pyrazine to form binuclear copper units. The wa ter molecules form a hydrogen-bonding network between the dicopper molecule s.
