Abstract
The title compound, [{Cu(C3H4N2)(4)}(Cr2O7)](n), containing a [Cr(Him)(4)](
2+) cation (Him = imidazole) and a dichromate anion, was obtained by hydrot
hermal synthesis. Each Him ligand coordinates to the Cu atom via one N atom
, forming a tetragonally elongated octahedral geometry with a basal plane d
efined by four coplanar imidazole N atoms, the axial sites being occupied b
y O atoms from two dichromato ligands. The dichromate anions bridge the Cu
ions to form one-dimensional zigzag chains.
