Abstract
In recent years major developments have taken place in palliative cancer ca re. Cancer specialists should be familiar with a number of these developmen ts since they can improve symptom control in advanced cancer patients. Some of these developments are discussed in this article, with particular empha sis on the multidimensional assessment of symptom complexes and neurotoxici ty of opioids.
