Abstract
Mutations conferring resistance to erythromycin or clarithromycin in Helico bacter pylori were studied. Mutation A2142G was consistently associated wit h clarithromycin MIC of >256 mu g/ml, whereas mutants carrying A2143G had M ICs ranging from less than or equal to 0.016 to >256 mu g/ml, suggesting th at additional factors account for the observed multiple levels of resistanc e to clarithromycin.
