Mi. Garcia-arata et al., Mutations in 23S rRNA in Helicobacter pylori conferring resistance to erythromycin do not always confer resistance to clarithromycin, ANTIM AG CH, 43(2), 1999, pp. 374-376
Mutations conferring resistance to erythromycin or clarithromycin in Helico
bacter pylori were studied. Mutation A2142G was consistently associated wit
h clarithromycin MIC of >256 mu g/ml, whereas mutants carrying A2143G had M
ICs ranging from less than or equal to 0.016 to >256 mu g/ml, suggesting th
at additional factors account for the observed multiple levels of resistanc
e to clarithromycin.
