MeAPO-11 (Me = Co, Mn or V) samples have been synthesized conventionally an
d in the presence of fluoride ions. Excellent incorporation of metal into t
he framework has been achieved by synthesizing MeAPO-11 in the presence of
fluoride ions. In spite of their larger crystallite size, MeAPO-11s obtaine
d from fluoride route are more active in the oxidation of ethylbenzene. The
complete change in oxidation state of vanadium from lower valence state (I
V) to higher valence state (V) during calcination is observed in VAPO-11. T
he redox behavior of MeAPO-11 has a potential influence on the catalytic ac
tivity during the oxidation of ethylbenzene. VAPO-11, which has significant
redox behavior, is most active. (C) 1999 Elsevier Science B.V. All rights
