Abstract
Synthesis of mesoporous material by pillaring of magadiite with silica was investigated. For pillaring reactive silica gel with composition characteri stic for the synthesis of MCM41 was used. The composite samples were charac terized by XRD, SEM, TG-DTA, IR and BET methods. Increased mechanical stabi lity of the composite was proven. The acidity of surface OH groups were stu died by adsorption of pyridine monitored by IR spectroscopy. The results re vealed the presence of both Bronsted and Lewis acid sites on the aluminium containing composite. (C) 1999 Elsevier Science B.V. All rights reserved.
