Abstract
The paper gives a review of the complex problems for the application of pie zoelectric actuators. The ferroelectric and piezoelectric properties of PZT ceramic are discussed. The specific behavior of piezoelectric actuators un der large signal conditions and the advantages and shortcomings of the diff erent actuator designs are discussed. Finally, trends in several new actuat or applications are presented.
