EEG analysis of Ca antagonists in rabbits

Cortical and hippocampal EEG power spectra were analyzed in rabbits after t he i.v. administration of nicardipine(0.5, 1.0mg/kg), diltiazem(1.0, 3.0mg/ kg) and verapamil(1.0, 3.0mg/kg). Verapamil caused a decrease in the T2/T1 ratio of hippocampus as haloperidol or diazepam, and the animals showed no significant changes in behavior. These results suggest that Ca antagonist c an be expected to a treatment drug for psychological disorders.
