Genital warts are manifestations of a common viral sexually transmitted dis
ease (STD) that are often diagnosed and treated with a variety of clinical
specialties. Unlike for other STDs, there is a general lack of a well-estab
lished treatment algorithm for the management of external genital warts. Th
is, coupled with a wide variety of treatments and clinical settings, makes
the development of a simple algorithm virtually impossible. In this review
what is known and not known about current treatments and case management wi
ll be discussed.
