Abstract
This article deals primarily with the office consultation involving a new p atient. The consultation lays the groundwork for the physician/patient rela tionship in a number of ways. The authors consider the objective and subjec tive assessments which take place between the doctor and the patient and of fer advice on how to decide on a course of treatment with the patient.
