Abstract
K-3[Cr(NCS)(6)] complex samples entrapped in silica glass were prepare d by the sol-gel technique. It has been noticed that the original colo r of the complex changed gradually from violet to green upon entrapmen t. This process occurred within several days. Electronic absorption an d emission spectra obtained during this process, along with the severa l chemical experiments performed, indicate that the sol-gel matrix ind uces an exchange of the NCS- ligand with ammonia.
