Takayasu arteritis is a non-specific inflammatory process of unknown e
tiology affecting the aorta and its branches. A retrospective study wa
s done in 14 patients diagnosed as Takayasu arteritis. Eleven patients
were female and three were male. Ages ranged from 12 to 30 years. Sev
en patients had type I arteritis, three patients type II arteritis, an
d four patients type III Takayasu arteritis. Successful angioplasty wa
s performed in five cases.
