A new phase of an inorganic ion exchanger, titanium tung state, has been pr
epared with good ion exchange properties. The material has been characteriz
ed by elemental, thermal and spectral analysis (FTIR) and surface area meas
urements. Ion exchange capacity has been determined and distribution behavi
our for several metal ions has been studied. The utility of this exchanger
is shown by carrying out some binary separations of metal ions.
