Unusual coordination mode of a 2-pyridyl ketone oxime ligand in bis(4-butylphenyl 2-pyridyl ketone oximate)palladium(II)

In the complex PdL2 (HL = 4-butylphenyl 2-pyridyl ketone oxime), characteri sed by spectroscopic techniques and X-ray diffraction analysis, the deproto nated ligand displays a N,O coordination, with the pyridyl nitrogen and the oxime oxygen, which is without precedence in this class of compounds; H-1 NMR spectra, together with structural data on PdL2, make it possible to dis tinguish between the N,O and N,N coordination mode in analogous compounds.
