Abstract
A 23-year-old man sustained traumatic loss of both hands. His left defectiv e forearm underwent lengthening with a 3-cm segment of the ipsilateral radi us; this was immediately followed by an ipsilateral second toe microvascula r transfer to the stump of the radius to provide pinch. Two years after the procedure the reconstructed hand had recovery of both motion and sensibili ty. (J Hand Surg 1999;24A:194-197. Copyright (C) 1999 by the American Socie ty for Surgery of the Hand.)
