Abstract
Stark widths and shifts for twenty-four lines of Sn II and three lines of S n I have been measured and calculated. For the 8s-6p, 7p-5d, 7d-6p, 8d-6p a nd 5f-5d transitions in Sn II and 5p6s-5p(2) in Sn I they are the first exp erimental values known. Measurements are carried out by observing the emiss ion lines from an optically thin laser produced plasma from a tin target in Ar atmosphere. The electron temperature was close to 10(4) K and the elect ron density 10(16) cm(-3). Calculations are based on the semiempirical meth od proposed by Griem with atomic matrix elements obtained by using the Hart ree-Fock approximation including relativistic corrections and 5s(2)5d-5s(2) 6d-5s5p(2) configuration interactions.
