The photodetachment process from the Be-(1s(2)2s2p(2 4)P) state is studied
in detail. Cross sections and angular distributions are calculated with pho
ton energy from threshold up to 7.5 eV, which covers the energy region belo
w the n = 4 threshold where n is the principal quantum number of the outerm
ost electron of the Be targets. The cross section of the photodetachment to
the 1s(2)s2p(P-3(o)) (ks, kd) P-4 channels shows a resonance at 3.944 63 e
V, immediately below the Be(1s(2)2s3s(3)S) threshold.
