Abstract
The energy levels of Te I are interpreted in the Racah-Slater formalism by means of the computer codes of Cowan. The: configuration mixing and the int ermediate coupling prevent a simple designation of the levels in both parit ies. This theoretical interpretation leads to revise and to extend the earl ier analysis with the support of predicted transition probabilities which a re reported for selected strong lines. Twenty-seven new energy levels class ify more than 15% of the Tc I lines previously uninterpreted. Twenty-two le vels of the so far unknown configuration 4d(6)5d are identified above 48404 .50 cm(-1). (C) 1999 Elsevier Science Ltd. All rights reserved.
