Abstract
We report about a 39-year-old man who presented at the department of ENT Wu rzburg suffering from a suspicious abscess or tumor of the right neck. Comp uted tomography and X-ray of the neck did not clarify the entity of the pro cess sufficiently. The emergency surgical exploration of the neck showed an unexpected result: a compress which was forgotten during strumectomy 20 ye ars ago.
