The series decomposition analysis of impedance matrix models for linear sys
tems of arbitrary degree and dimension using recursive computation is consi
dered. Formulation of the series-admittance description of multi-input, mul
ti-output system models is discussed together with typical applications. A
particularly simple, computationally effective procedure is outlined therea
fter when, as in most engineering problems, the impedance form results in a
matrix quadratic structure. Finally, the controllability-observability asp
ects of series models for single input-multiple output systems is commented
