Abstract
Mono- and bisthiocarbohydrazones having the pyridine ring and alkylic or ph enyl moieties were synthesized and the corresponding copper and zinc comple xes were obtained. The antimicrobial and mutagenic activities of these comp ounds were evaluated. Bisthiocarbohydrazones exhibited good antibacterial a ctivity and were found to be more active than the corresponding monosubstit uted compounds. Monothiocarbohydrazones showed weak mutagenic properties, w hereas no mutagenicity was detected for their copper complexes and for bist hiocarbohydrazones.
