Abstract
The material-independent perfectly matched layer (MIPML) which is based on the idea proposed by Berenger, is a kind of absorber devoted to handling wa ves propagating in complex (such as anisotropy, dispersion, and nonlinearit y) materials. This paper presents nn extension of the MIPML absorber to die lectric media consisting of both arbitrary loss and anisotropy. Numerical r esults indicate that the proposed MIPML absorbers work well for the materia ls with both relative low-loss and high-loss cases. (C) 1999 John Wiley & S ons, Inc.
