Phason flips accompanying the glide of a perfect dislocation has been exami
ned using the Burkov model of the decagonal quasicrystal which is a pseudob
inary alloy of Al and transition metals. It is shown that the glide of a pe
rfect dislocation is difficult without producing chemical disorder. There a
re three extreme cases in the glide of a dislocation in quasicrystal: first
ly conservative glide at a very high temperature where the complete phason
relaxation occurs; secondly, glide producing chemical disorder; thirdly gli
de producing a stacking fault with the fault vector of the phason component
of the Burgers vector.
