Abstract
We show that the local spin-gauge symmetry and the off-diagonal long-range order of the system of alkali atoms in a magnetic trap at the temperature T < T-BEC (the temperature for the Bose-Einstein condensation transition) le ads to a superflow of the atomic gas. The supercurrents are present in the interior of the systems even in the ground state. This effect does not exis t at the temperature T > T-BEC. (C) 1999 Published by Elsevier Science B.V.
