Abstract
Anaerobic generation of sulphides was noticed in both settling basin and in the quiescent zone oi the lagoon. This phenomenon became significant when biosludge accumulation, in the settling basin or in the lagoon, increased o r when the lagoon aeration was limited. Regular sludge wastage and air blow ers optimization reduced the impact of this phenomenon. The foul condensate s is the most significant source of sulphide in the process effluent.
