Abstract
In this payer, the authors discuss optical properties of silica glass and f ibers, both doped and non-doped, obtained by the sol-gel method. Transmissi on and luminescence characteristics of glasses thus obtained were measured. It was found that the 1.5 mu m emission was invoked in the fiber exposed t o the 0.97 mu m excitation.
