Abstract
In this article, I discuss the possible advantages of focusing more extensi vely on the history of selected areas or fields of psychology and following that history to the present time as the conclusion of the History and Syst ems course. The use of this topical approach may allow students to see more clearly the different insights and advantages provided by a historical per spective because they already have some knowledge of the areas being review ed. It also may provide a more germane history for the actual discipline th ey are learning and lay a better foundation for the kind of integrative ins ights one hopes occur in this course. A short annotated bibliography of sou rce materials for lectures and readings is provided.
