Our purpose is to calculate and describe the direct visible light emit
ted from quadrupoles, and dipole edges in a complex long straight sect
ion at the ESRF with a general method. We first build the equation gov
erning the interference process between several magnets, and derive it
s consequences. Then we present numerical simulations and the correspo
nding recorded real data. The understanding of the emission characteri
stics might be important in system, and the corresponding applications
in diagnostics.
