T. Rubehn et al., CHARACTERIZATION OF NUCLEAR-PHYSICS TARGETS USING RUTHERFORD BACKSCATTERING AND PARTICLE-INDUCED X-RAY-EMISSION, Nuclear instruments & methods in physics research. Section A, Accelerators, spectrometers, detectors and associated equipment, 387(3), 1997, pp. 328-332
Rutherford backscattering and particle induced X-ray emission have bee
n utilized to precisely characterize targets used in nuclear fission e
xperiments. The method allows for a fast and non-destructive determina
tion of target thickness, homogeneity and element composition.
