Abstract
Appearance of transverse surface acoustic waves in an inhomogeneous layer b etween two media in the high-frequency range is predicted. The waves are as sociated with a turning point of the spectral function at the interface bet ween the media. The spectrum of the predicted waves differs from the one kn own earlier in that it contains a mode which has no phase velocity dispersi on.
