Chromium hexacyanoferrate possesses an electrocatalytic property for the re
duction of hydrogen peroxide at 0.0 V and this mixed-valence cluster can al
so be utilized as a matrix to immobilize enzyme onto the interface of a glu
cose biosensor. The electrochemical glucose biosensor possesses a linearity
up to 4 mM (R=0.9994) with sensitivity of 3.793 mu A/mM per cm(2) The appa
rent Michaelis-Menten constant is 29.9 mM (calculated from the reciprocal p
lot) under a steady-state condition. The detection limit is 3.1x10(-6) M (S
IN=3). There are two interferences observed at the detection of glucose suc
h as ascorbic acid (1.48%) and cysteine (2.78%) in the presence of 5.5 mM g
lucose. However, no other interference was observed from the addition of ot
her interference such as uric acid, acetaminophen, tyrosine and galactose.
