Abstract
The title diester characteristically undergoes reactions in which the cyanoethanoate group is displaced, affording a benzopyran fragment whi ch undergoes addition (at either the 4- or the 2-position) to reactive compounds; further rearrangement affords 2H-1-benzopyran derivatives.
