Abstract
A compound active in the constitutive nitric oxide synthetase assay, the su lfonoglycolipid 3-O-(6'-deoxy-6'-sulfo-alpha-D-glucopyranosyl)-1-O-oleoyl-2 -O-palmitoylglycerol, was isolated from the brown alga Dictyota ciliolata. This compound was characterized by several spectroscopic techniques and is the first reported occurrence of this class of compound in brown algae.
