The effect of anomalous cross-field current on fluctuating equilibria in to
roidal plasmas is studied experimentally and numerically. In cases where a
cross-field discharge current is imposed, it is shown that this current det
ermines the radial profiles of electron density and radial electric field.
Moreover, it is well described by an heuristic anomalous Pedersen conductiv
ity (or an anomalous ion collision frequency) which is approximately 4 time
s the ion-neutral collision frequency.
