Abstract
Some of the essential features of plasma transport in the tokamak edge with realistic divertor geometry are simulated using adaptive finite elements t o solve a time-dependent scalar anisotropic conduction-convection-radiation problem. Solutions are compared with those obtained on fixed finite elemen t mesh and typically show comparable accuracy at a much lower cost or much better accuracy at comparable cost.
