The rich and diverse macrofauna of the Belpbergschichten (upper part of the
Upper Marine Molasse, Middle Burdigalian) in the south and west of Bern, S
witzerland, is subject of new investigations. In the first part, published
in Eclogae geol. Helv. 87/3 (1994), a review of the paleontology of the inv
ertebrates allready known and of the geology of the area of investigation i
s given and the description of 23 species of bivalves (Palaeotaxodonta and
Pteriomorphia, except Ostreacea). In this second part the Ostreacea, Lucina
cea, Chamacea, Carditacea and Cardiacea are described, figured and compared
with other species. The provenance and abundance of the species in the Bel
pbergschichten and the distribution (according to the list of synonyms) in
the Paratethys and Tethys are given. Totally 14 spieces are described, two
are new species: Megacardita guenterti und Acanthocardia steiningeri.
