Folic acid and pregnancy

One of the few possibilities of primary abnormal development prophylaxis is a periconceptional folic acid intake. The authors report on the present st ate of folic acid intake by pregnant women and its influence on the prevale nce of neural tube defects and orofacial clefts (uroanoschisis, cheilognath o-uranoschisis) on the basis of the analyzed data of the Magdeburg register of anomalies.
