T. Hayashi et al., [D-Ala(2), D-Leu(5)]enkephalin blocks the methamphetamine-induced c-fos mRNA increase in mouse striatum, EUR J PHARM, 366(2-3), 1999, pp. R7-R8
The administration of methamphetamine caused an increase of c-fos mRNA in t
he striatum of the mouse. A systemic injection of the delta-opioid receptor
agonist, [D-Ala(2), D-Leu(5)]enkephalin (DADLE), attenuated the c-Sos mRNA
increase induced by methamphetamine. These results suggest that endogenous
S-opioid peptides might counteract certain genomic influences exerted by p
sychostimulants such as methamphetamine. (C) 1999 Elsevier Science B.V. All
