The authors present the results of a series of 518 coproscopic examina
tions carried out in France in the four Veterinary Schools in dogs and
cats. Above 420 dogs, 91 were infested, helminths encountered were by
decreasing frequency Toxocara canis, Trichuris vulpis, Dipylidium can
inum, Uncinaria stenocephala, Ancylostoma caninum et Toxascaris leonin
a. 27.7% of dogs less than one year old were infested with roundworms
and hookworms. 23.7% of 279 dogs of more than one-year-old were infest
ed with in addition whipworms and Dipylidium. Above 98 cats, 17 were i
nfested. 31.7% of cats less than one year old were infested with princ
ipally Toxocara. Only 7% of cats of more than one year old were infest
ed by Toxacara or Dipylidium.
