This paper presents a novel single-phase unity power factor rectifier, whic
h features critical conduction mode and zero-voltage switching. The reduced
conduction losses are achieved by the employment of a single converter, in
stead of the typical configuration composed of a front-end rectifier follow
ed by a boost converter. Theoretical analysis, a design example, and experi
mental results of a 300-W converter with 127-V-rms input voltage and 400-V-
DC output voltage are presented.
