The effects of non-Newtonian lubricants on the dynamics of a 3D journal bea
ring are investigated using a moving spectral element method. Comparisons a
re made with the findings reported for the 2D case. The variation of LID, t
he ratio of the length of the bearing to its diameter, is shown to have a s
ignificant effect on the stability properties of the journal. Copyright (C)
