Abstract
Two new species of Tethya (Porifera Demospongiae), T. irregularis and T. va rians are described. T. irregularis, characterized by megasters with marked ly reduced or abnormal rays, comes from Lanzarote (Canary Islands) while T. varians, with very heterogenous megasters in size and shape, is from Isla do Sal (Cape Verde Islands).
