The crystal structure of the known YGe3 ('YGe3.5') and YGe1.9 ('YGe2') comp
ounds and the novel Y3Ge4 compound have been studied by X-ray powder diffra
ction. It was found that crystal structure of YGe3 belongs to the DyGe3-typ
e structure (a=4.0490(8) Angstrom, b=20.779(3) Angstrom, c=3.9184(8) Angstr
om), YGe1.9 to the DyGe1.9-type structure (a=4.106(1) Angstrom, b=29.986(6)
Angstrom, c=3.995(8) Angstrom) and Y3Ge4 to the Er3Ge4-type structure (a=4
