Abstract
An approach to the determination of platinum-group metals in carbonaceous r ocks is proposed with due regard to the wide diversity of compounds formed by platinum-group metals in these rocks. A necessary condition for the corr ect determination of platinum-group metals is the complete decomposition of the carbonaceous matter of a rock. At the initial stage of the analysis, t he decomposition of a sample and the elimination of carbon are achieved by annealing the samples in an oxygen atmosphere at 60-700 degrees C.
