Abstract
We have demonstrated how fuzzy concepts can easily be used in the Johnson a lgorithm for managing uncertain scheduling on two-machine flow shops. This paper extends application to fuzzy flow shops with more than two machines. A new fuzzy heuristic flow-shop scheduling algorithm (the fuzzy CDS algorit hm) is then designed since optimal solutions seem unnecessary for uncertain environments. Also, the conventional CDS algorithm is shown as a special c ase of the fuzzy CDS algorithm with special membership functions being assi gned.
